- "... First Law ...": Here's a link to a listing of the first statutes passed by the First Congress in 1789.
The text of the oath was:

- "... These are the Times ... ...": Here's a link to the Indiana University site showing an image of these remarkable words which were written at the time of Washington's retreat across the Delaware River.

Mullfoto of the Day
Suggested (and sent to me) by yet another former Foreign Service Officer and colleague in Iraq. The prevailing theory of this photo is that someone called to order a going-away cake for Suzanne with the instructions that it be inscribed: "Best Wishes Suzanne" underneath that "We Will Miss You."
Catchy Caption of the Day
Actual Caption:
People's Liberation Army(PLA) officials vehicles parked at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. On-road privileges for China's legendary PLA are leading to a rash of fake military vehicles and bogus number plates, state press said Friday.
Cheating bastards! Cancel the Olympics!
