* Christie Whitman. I am reliably informed that the two forms of the Governor’s name are: Christie Whitman or Christine Todd Whitman. Not, Christie Todd Whitman.

* “Pleasant Valley Sunday” was one of the greatest hits of the Monkeys, this one written by Carole King. Those of us who had little to do on Sundays on Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange, New Jersey decided that the song was written for that road even though Ms. King was born in Brooklyn and we had no reason to think she had ever set foot in New Jersey.
