One Person's Cost is Another's Investment
“Marriage Penalty”
-- Under certain circumstances, couples are taxed
at a higher rate on their combined incomes than
they would be if they were single and filing
separately. This is called the “Marriage Penalty”
which we should be, if only as a social matter,
attempting to fix.
“Orwellian”
-- In the novel “1984”, George Orwell wrote about the concept of “newspeak” where
words were given meanings by the government which were often the opposite of
their useage in daily life by citizens. The concepts of Costs and Investment are
1999 examples of “newspeak.”
