By The Way, Georgia 6 Is Still Republican
“NBC has decided to run the Lisa Myers …”
-- Lisa Myers, a seasoned NBC reporter,
interviewed Ms. Broaddrick over a month ago.
According to the Drudge Report
(WWW.DRUDGEREPORT.COM), Ms. Broaddrick
was told the interview would air last January 21 –
which was while the Senate Trial was still in
process.
“But let’s turn the tables.”
-- These are called “process” questions. In political reporting how one arrived at a
decision is as newsworthy – sometimes more newsworthy – than the substance of
the decision.
“… the Gloat Tour will be over.”
-- In spite of proclaiming the White House a “gloat free zone” the first place the
President visited after the Senate Trial was New Hampshire with the White House
spin team reminding everyone that it was in New Hampshire Clinton claimed the
title of “the comeback kid.”
“Johnny Isakson won …”
-- Gingrich resigned effective January 3, 1999 the date set by the Constitution as
the end of a Congress. He easily won re-election to his seat in the November
election, but decided not to be sworn in for the new Congress (the 106th) on
January 6th, thereby officially creating a vacancy.
