"… the 2:30 phone call …" -- Maybe the most puzzling exchange occurred between Monica and the House Manager when he asked her if getting a call from the President at 2:30 in the morning surprised her. She said it did not. I yelled at the television: "Ask her why not?"

"Dryfork, WVa. …" -- There really is a Dryfork in West Virginia. Not that Jay Rockefeller has ever been there.

"Susan McDougal orange jump suit …" -- Susan McDougal was a central figure in the original Whitewater investigation. When she refused to answer questions before the Grand Jury she was charged with and jailed for contempt of court. TV delighted in showing tape of her being led into and out of various courthouses in her orange prison jump suit, hand cuffs, and leg irons. To my knowledge she never actually tried to make a break for it.

"a Dick Morris poll …" -- When the Monica story first broke, Clinton's first instinct was not to tell the truth, it was to call Dick Morris and have him take a poll on what the American people would think if the President lied about the relationship.
