- " Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia ...": Ulaanbaatarn is, as you are no doubt aware, the capital of the country of Mongolia. Here is the CIA World Factbook entry on Mongolia.
- " Yurt ...": A yurt, according to the Wikipedia Encyclopedia is "a portable, felt-covered, wood lattice-framed dwelling structure used by nomads in the steppes of Central Asia. Here is the link to the Wikipedia entry.
- " Elections in the House ...": Here are two links: The first to the election of 1824 and the second to the election of 1876.
- " Erratum ...": In the section dealing with the higher mathematics of dividing by 2, I mistakenly typed "278" as one half of 535 instead of (with rounding) "268."
Mullfoto of the Day
Among the differences in being the President and the Vice President - in addition to the President getting his own airplane and his own Army - is exhibited in the size of the two photos on the wall of the courthouse in Mahaska County, Iowa.
Catchy Caption of the Day
Actual Caption:
In this photo released by Fincantieri, the Queen Victoria passenger ship is shown in this Nov. 24, 2007 file photo. Italy's state-owned shipbuilder Fincantieri built the new 90,000 ton vessel for Cunard Line, a unit of Carnival Corp.
I am a big fan of cruising but the notion that the Queen Victoria of the storied Cunard Line is actually a Carnival cruise ship takes just a little of the romance out of the whole thing.
