- " Des Moines Register ...": Here's the link to the Des Moines Register account of the abuse heaped upon attendees at its so-called "candidate forum.
- " Borscht Belt ...": Here's a link to a web page with a complete - amazingly complete - explanation of the Borscht Belt.
Borscht, for those for whom Lutefisk is the native food, is a red-beet based soup which, at least in my house, was often mixed with sour cream to make a delicious and refreshing treat. Or so I was told. Borscht has never passed my lips.
Neither, by the way, has lutefisk.
Mullfoto of the Day
For those who believe a big-time Presidential campaign is all glitz and glamor, let me point out to you the totality of the amenity tray in the hotel we stayed at in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Catchy Caption of the Day
Actual Caption:
Rush hour on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles, October 3, 2007. The Senate late on Thursday approved a broad energy bill to increase the fuel efficiency of U.S. cars and trucks by Congress for the first time since 1975 and significantly boost production of renewable motor fuels like ethanol.
And that will reduce traffic on the 405 ... how?
