  • " Mr. Emanuel and the Mop ...": Here's the piece from the NY Times about Rahm Emanuel's dad getting pretty far off the old Kibbutz with his Arab mopping the White House floor line.

  • " CIA World Factbook ...": Here's the link to an extremely valuable resource from your Central Intelligence Agency.

By the way, the Capital of the "Democratic Republic of" is Kinsasha. The Capital of the "Non- or Undemocratic Republic of" is Brazzaville in case you need a tie-breaker for the bar bet.

  • " Michael Corleone ...": From the Godfather Part II. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) is talking to Frank Pentangali (Michael V. Gazzo) about Hyman Roth (Lee Strasberg).

The full line is: "This was my father's study, he taught me a lot of things in this room. He taught me to keep my friends close and my enemies closer."

    Mullfoto of the Day

I am pretty certain that I am the only person on the planet who looked at this scene and wondered whether the open house was a tour of that barrel between the two Realtor signs.

    Catchy Caption of the Day

    Actual Caption:

Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody gives a thumbs up to recognize her father, retired Brig. General Harold H. Dunwoody, of Engelwood, Fla. Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, during her promotion ceremony to four-star General at the Pentagon.

I have had the honor of meeting Gen. Dunwoody. She is the first female four-star General in the history of the United States. She is a credit to the uniform and fantastic role model for women.

Lest you think Gen. Dunwoody has spent her career running USOs and rolling bandages, she spent a period of time as a Battalion Commander at Ft. Bragg, NC in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Her promotion should have gotten more attention.
