meutes Paris

- " meutes Paris ...": Riots in Paris
- " Monday, Monday ...": Here's a link to the lyrics of this 1966 tune by the Mamas and the Papas which was written by Papa John Phillips.
- " Hoi Polloi ...": This phrase is almost always mis-used in conversation. In fact, it means the opposite of what most people think it means. According to the Merriam-Webster Unabridged:
Etymology: Greek hoi polloi; the many
1. Ordinary people; the general populace. MULTITUDE, MASSES
- " the 16th ...": Paris is divided into 20 sections called arrondissements (which I have always thought were aggrandizements, but that's why I write this. So I can learn along with you.) The sections are arranged in a spiral manner, thus:
The 16th is the wealthiest among the the arrondissements as you can see by
reading here.
- " Neville Chamberlain ...": Neville Chamberlain was the Prime Minister of Great Britain at the start of World War II. His Foreign Minister was Lord Halifax.
Chamberlain met with Hitler in 1938 and agreed that the Germans would take control of Czechloslavakia in return for promising not to march into anyone else's country.
Chamberlain returned from Munich announcing the agreement meant "peace in our time."
His was mistaken.
Cordell Hull was Franklin D. Roosevelt's Secretary of State from 1933 to 1944.
