You Don't Know What You've Got 'Till It's Gone
Wednesday October 24, 2001
- TITLE: "You Don't Know What You've Got 'Till It's Gone" The chorus from a 1968 song by Joni Mitchell "The Big Yellow Taxi". The full chorus is:
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
- "... one percent ..." Here is the link to the website in support of greater foreign aid.
- "... public access channels ..." I believe these are officially known as PEG channels: Public,
Education, Government access. It was one of those ideas which sounded great and which people thought they could get a show and become a star. I'm not certain this has ever happened, but the channels exist and should be utilized.
- "...Hollywood directors, writers, and actors ..." During World War II Hollywood was enlisted to produce a huge number of newsreels, and training and propaganda films to support the war effort.
Perhaps the most famous were a series of films directed by Frank Capra which were grouped under the heading, "Why We Fight."
- "... extraordinary job approval ..." Yesterday's Gallup poll showed slightly higher numbers: 88% - 9%.
- Mullings' Catchy Caption of the Day:
Remember, Comrade Mr. President. You were the
one who said this was a good idea.
