- "... John Linder ..." Linder, actually, gets credit - or blame - for Mullings. Back in those days, I wrote a once-in-a-while column named "Talking Points." One morning John stopped in my office with a copy in his hands and asked, "Who sees this?"
I thought he meant "what is the distribution list?" so I told him, GOP Hill staff and the NRCC press list - a couple of hundred people.
He had really been asking who approved it before it went out. The answer was, of course, no one, so I said, "John, here's your downside protection. If I write something that a reporter wants you to comment on all you have to say is, 'YOU try to tell Galen what to write!' There's not a reporter in this town who will give you any grief."
- " Washington Post " Here's a link to Tom Edsall's piece on Cynthia McKinney.
- "... BBC ..." Here's a link to the BBC piece on low cost air travel in Europe.
