Friday, August 16, 2002
- TITLE: "Mullings Dog Days Tour" Dog Days are generally known, according to Merriam-Webster's Unabridged as "the period between early July and early September when the hot sultry weather of summer usually occurs."
The etymology of "dog days" is: translation of Late Latin dies caniculares, translation of Greek h merai kynades; from their being reckoned in ancient times from the heliacal rising of the Dog Star (Sirius)

- " Northwest Airlines "
Once - a long, long time ago - I was traveling from Washington, DC to Denver through Minneapolis on a direct flight on Northwest. A direct flight is a flight which stops, but you stay on the same plane.
There was a thunderstorm in DC which delayed our departure for a couple of hours. The flight attendant came on and told the passengers that those with connections would probably miss them in Minneapolis and, if they wanted to get off the plane they could, but they couldn't retrieve their luggage which would be sent on to the orginal location.
When we got to Minneapolis we were told that everyone should exit the plane because Northwest Airlines had rolled out a different plane for the flight to Denver which had left before we had ever left Washington.
I was not pleased.
- " basketball coach " The coach was a guy named Ken Murray who had a short career in the NBA with the old Baltimore Bullets. West Orange Mountain High School was a small school but, under Murray's leadership went undefeated (25-0) and won the state championship my Sophomore year, then won the first seven games the next year extending the streak to 32 straight, before losing. The team didn't lose another game until the finals of the State Championship; 48-2 over two years.
