See? If you're serious about your history, you keep track of these things. Apparently one day the Duke of Wellington had some trouble hoisting his beef up onto his horse and asked that this step be installed.
I'm going to start looking for things I think need to be added to downtown Washington and ask that a plaque be cast noting each one.
