Thin Skin
Wednesday, July 31, 2002
- TITLE: "Thin Skin" Some public figures, in spite of years of training, retain extremely thin skins - which is to say their
feelings are easily hurt, and they strike back at the slightest, er, slight.
- " news conference " Here's a link to the complete transcript of the President's Press Conference of July 8.
- "... Hillary Rodham Clinton Rodham ..." In her speech to the Democratic Leadership Council meeting in New York, Sen. Clinton had the gall to say, "words have meaning..." Hahahahahahahahaha.
- " Dennis Hastert " Representative Hastert (R-IL) had been the Chief Deputy Whip when Gingrich announced
(following the disappointing election results in November of 1998) he would not seek re-election as Speaker and would,
in fact, resign from the Congress. Representative Bob Livingston (R-LA) announced he would run, but dropped out in
late December.
With only a few weeks to go before the new Congress was to convene, the Republican House leadership joined forces
behind Hastert who was elected Speaker in January, 1999 and still serves - honorably and ably - in that capacity.
- " Clinton Rips Bush " Here's a link to the AP story in question.
- "... Ponzi scheme ..." Here's a definition of a Ponzi scheme:
Any investment program that offers impossibly high returns and pays these returns to early investors out of the capital contributed by later investors. Named for Carlo Ponzi who promoted such a scheme in the 1920s based on a theoretical arbitrage in international postal reply coupons. Sometimes called a pyramid scheme because the structure must be supported by a broader and broader base of gullible investors as time passes. Also called Pyramid Scheme.

More of that hateful bi-partisanship.
