- TITLE: "McPolitics" The prefix "Mc..." is derived from the ubiquity of the hamburger chain Mcdonald's. Even though McDonald's
is the standard for ... standards (every hamburger in every McDonald's in the US tastes exactly like every other McDonald's
hamburger served in the US) the "Mc..." prefix is now used in the US to denote something which is lacking substance.
My first memory of this construct was in conjunction with USA Today newspaper when it first appeared. It was derogatorily known as "McNews."

- Mullfoto of the Day:
At the Books-a-Million bookstore on
King Street in the People's Republic of Alexandria, Virginia, I came across this window display on Sunday afternoon.
All these Hillary books, and no Harry books.
I walked in and asked about it. I was told it was because they had plenty of Hillary books but "only a few" Harry Potter.
How many is a few?
Three. Three copies of Harry safely stashed behind the counter.

Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmud Abbas, right, walks with US National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice prior to their talks in the West Bank town of Jericho Saturday.
It may not be perfect, but it's working.
