- "� Pew Poll ... ": Here's the Washington Post's analysis of the Pew poll of attitudes toward America.
- "� Walrus ... ": The major oil companies, in their filings describing how they would handle a spill in the Gulf of Mexico, all cut-and-pasted the same language which came from plans to control spills in Alaska.
It seems that the companies were very confident they could protect walrus from the evils of oil pollution in the Gulf of Mexico where walrus haven't lived since just shortly after the dinosaurs went extinct.

Congressman Ed Markey ridiculed ExxonMobil and the others for having almost identical contingency plans for the Gulf of Mexico.
He said the contingency plans included plans to deal with walruses.
"There aren't any walruses in the Gulf of Mexico and there have not been for 3 million years. How can ExxonMobil have walruses in their response plan for the Gulf of Mexico?" Mr Markey said.
