D (for Department) Day
Friday, June 7, 2002
- TITLE: "D (for Department) Day" You know this, but I'll repeat it. It has been standard military
jargon to use phrases like H-Hour and D-Day to denote a time and date certain. The D-Day which occurred 58 years ago
yesterday changed the meaning of that idiom forever.
- "... jurisdiction ..." In the House the Parliamentarian has sometimes been called upon to settle disputes among committees as to which has jurisdiction - or which has principal jurisdiction. In practice, the Speaker often makes this decision.
D-Day Then
D-Day Now.
