"You furnish the pictures …" This, from the Spanish-American War Centennial website:
One of the most oft-repeated stories connected with the Spanish-American War concerns Frederic Remington. The artist was engaged by William Randolph Hearst, publisher of the New York JOURNAL, to go to Cuba with noted writer Richard Harding Davis and provide illustrations to accompany a series of articles on the Revolution. Arriving in Havana in January of 1897, Remington soon became bored with seemingly peaceful Cuba and wired Hearst: "Everything is quiet. There is no trouble. There will be no war. I wish to return." The publisher's reply is alleged to have been: "Please remain. You furnish the pictures and I'll furnish the war."

"Remember the Maine" Maine became a state in 1820 which means it only took 78 years from statehood to the sinking of its namesake ship - 24 years less than the tax to be repealed.

"Mullings would be unreedable." I KNOW that's spelled wrong.

"Chutzpah" and "the orphan in the courtroom" Chuzpah is a Yiddish word meaning "having great gall or nerve" The "orphan" story is the standard definition of chutzpah: The boy who begs the mercy of the court for having killed his parents on the grounds he is now an orphan.

"A well-known attorney losing his license…" President Clinton is in danger of losing his license to practice law because he lied under oath. His attorneys are claiming he is being singled out for harsh punishment. A President being held to a higher standard … what chutzpah!
