Catchy Caption of the Day
Actual Caption:
An annular solar eclipse is seen at Hirai Daini Elementary School in Tokyo May 21, 2012. The sun and moon aligned over the earth in a rare astronomical event - an annular eclipse that will dim the skies over parts of Asia and North America, briefly turning the sun into a blazing ring of fire.
I looked this up for you:
An annular eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the Moon is smaller than that of the Sun. Hence the Sun appears as a very bright ring, or annulus, surrounding the outline of the Moon.
