"… more typical Tuesday …" The usual work week for Congress is from Tuesday through Thursday with votes on Tuesday usually held until the afternoon. Because California has such a huge delegation - 52 Representatives and the two Senators - the schedule is adjusted to allow them to fly back and forth on weekends as they see fit.
