Monday, March 18, 2002
- TITLE: "Ironies" Sometimes things just strike me this way.
- " Joe Klein " Klein is another one of those people whom, under the "Mullings Rule of Interpersonal Relationships," I like. The rule is: If people are nice to me, I like them.
- "... former Clinton Officials ..." Here's the line-up:
Running for Governor:
- Former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Andrew Cuomo in New York,
- Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich in Massachusetts,
- Former Attorney General Janet Reno in Florida, and,
- Former Energy Secretary Bill Richardson in New Mexico. (Richardson is the only one of the group with electoral experience. He was a Congressman from New Mexico before becoming U.N. Ambassador and career counselor to Monica Lewinsky).
- Former White House Chief of Staff, Erskine Bowles,is running for U.S. Senate from, North Carolina, and
- Former Presidential advisor, Rahm Emanuel, is running for a U.S. House seat in Chicago.
- "... United Nations Human Rights Commission ..." Here is the link to Ambassador Kirkpatrick's op-ed piece from the LA Times.
And here's the list of Human Rights Commission members - including such paragons human rights as Cuba, Libya, and the Sudan.
- " ... The Big Jakubowski ..." A pun on the wonderful 1998 film, "The Big Lebowski" which starred Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi.
It contains an absolutely brilliant cameo by John Turturro.

- Mullings' Catchy Caption of the Day:
Memo to The James: You are correct. Bush's popularity is very thin. As this photo clearly shows, neither the Democratic Mayor of Chicago, Richard M. Daley (L.) nor the Republican Governor of Illinois, George Ryan (R.) wanted to be seen anywhere near President George W. Bush (C.) on Saturday.
By the way, I do believe if you look over Gov. Ryan's head at about one o'clock there, RIGHT THERE, in the background is ... The Lad!
