The Second First Hundred Days

- TITLE: "The Second First Hundred Days" The period of the First Hundred Days of an Administration is a big deal. It sets the tone and tenor for the entire time leading up to the mid-term elections.
The most famous "First Hundred Days" (and perhaps the first time they were measured in this way) was FDR's first term when he proposed - and got adopted - most of the "New Deal" programs.
- "... Ken Mehlman ..." Mehlman is another of those examples of why politics is such an interesting way to make a living. He was the staff director of a Congresswoman - Kay Granger - from Fort Worth. He got a chance to join the campaign as a regional field representative and by the time it was over he was its political director.
- "... Jack Welch ..." In the course of his divorce proceedings it came to light that the former chairman of General Electric had gotten the board of directors to agree to all manner of extravagant perks even in his retirement.
- Atkins Diet update. As of Thursday (day 8) minus 6 lbs.
