A Campaign Day in Iowa
Chariton, Knoxville, and Pella
Iowa
SIDEBAR
Contrary to popular belief, the word "caucus" is not a Greek word which would make the plural "cauci" in the same way that more than one "alumnus" would be called "alumni."According to the Merriam-Webster Third Unabridged, the origin of the word caucus is from the Algonquian Indian word "caucauasu" meaning "elder" or "counselor."
We're here to help.

Since the 1/2/2008 issue didn't get posted, I'll comment here about today's SDR page:
Perhaps you were in the 2nd District when you saw the advertisement for "leaches". They may still be trying to rid themselves of dear old Jim.
Wait a minute... you were born in Iowa??? Me too... Dubuque. Where you?
GREAT description of the campaign process in the Iowa caucuses. (Darn, I still like "cauci" better.) After the Iowa push, do you have any plan to take the radio campaign national?
I ask because we have - HAD - a great local radio talk show host in Sacramento; Tom Sullivan. He was a giant in Sacramento media; got his start in talk radio 15+ years ago when some local kid named "Rush Limbaugh" left KFBK radio to move to New York. Well, Tom has also gone to the big city and is continuing his radio talk show on the Fox News Talk network. (He also does a TV show on Fox Business News, but that's beside the point.) He has been one of Rush's substitute hosts; he's a former Marine, former Highway Patrol officer (for Washington State, I believe) and used to do the business news for KCRA TV and for KFBK radio. He's the manager of his own investment firm. I'm not sure when he sleeps, but it can't be much!
Tom Sullivan is a SMART, centrist-Conservative, the ultimate "reasonable man". He's an excellent interviewer with no axes to grind and no fondness for "Gotcha!" media, and a darned nice guy. I don't speak for him, but I suspect that he'd be happy to do a radio interview with Thompson, and I can't think of an interview I'd like to hear more.
Give him a call. I'd love to hear it!
