McCain

Even though I am in Alaska, I know that there has been a major shake-up at the McCain campaign. It includes the two senior advisor/strategists, the campaign manager, the political director and the deputy campaign manager.

The last person in that list is my son, known as The Lad. He resigned at noon today.

I am writing tomorrow's MULLINGS right now with a closer look at Presidential campaigns generally.

The Lad is a talented guy and will do just fine. The problem is: He may well return to California which means that Titus the Granddog will be going with him.

The column will come out early today because of time zone issues (Alaska is one time zone west of PDT), and I will be driving from Soldotna to Anchorage - about a four hour trip.

Look for it at about 4 pm EDT

Maybe The Lad should approach Fred Thompson's people. For somebody not running, he's looking alot like he'll need staff soon.

As for Titus, I'd try to negotiate a custody agreement, atleast until campaign season is over.

Custody agreement, my butt. I've got the Granddog; it's up to The Lad to wrest him away!

Possession is 9/10 of the law!

All the best to The Lad. I know he'll land on his feet.

Dreadnought and Babette are crestfallen. Not over Sen McCain, they were always of the belief that McCain-Feingold was an unconstitutional encroachment upon their 1st Amendment rights, but Titus.

don't make too much of your drive to Anchorage. my grandfather walked from Fairbanks to Sward in the dead of winter in the early part of the last century before the railroad got built.

Re your column today; Please know that Mary Landrieu is an embarrassment to most of here in Louisiana, and that's not easy when you consider the number of incompetent politicians in this state. You might also be interested to know that support for Senator Vitter here in his home state is running 75 to 80 percent favorable. Those of us who know he and Wendy know they have overcome their problems and we finally have a real Senator - we sure don't want to lose him!!

I don't know how to do the blog thing but had to comment on Mary!
