- "� I'll Wait ...": "Yankee Doodle Boy" was a song from the pre-World War I musical "Little Johnny Jones" written by George M. Cohan who, according to his Wikipedia entry, is known as the "father of American Musical Comedy."
It was also a featured number in the 1942 film, "Yankee Doodle Dandy" which starred James Cagney - yes that James Cagney.
Cagney, playing George M. Cohan sang and danced in the movie winning him the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1943.
